Kansas and Alaska are home to the largest oil and gas fields in the United States.

The largest oil and gas fields in the world include the Ghawar field in Saudi Arabia, the Hugoton field in Kansas and the Prudhoe field in Alaska. Ghawar field, the largest oil field in the world at 15,022 square miles (24,135 square kilometers), was discovered in 1948.
