Christmas trees can be made fire-resistant.

Christmas trees can be made fire-resistant using the following recipe:

Mix in a bucket:

  • 2 cups corn syrup
  • 2 ounces liquid chlorine bleach
  • 2 pinches Epsom salts
  • teaspoon borax
  • 1 teaspoon chelated iron
  • 2 gallons hot water


Use the solution to water the tree every day. Chelated iron is available at garden supply centers.
