Choosing cloth or disposable diapers is a tricky issue for the environmentally concerned.

This is a complex matter with both cloth and disposable diapers having an environmental impact. Disposable diapers make up two percent of the earth's total solid waste while cloth diapers account for only one percent of solid waste.

Cleaning cloth diapers requires the use of detergents, which is a polluting agent, and hot water, wich is an energy user.

In addition, if a professional diaper service is used then there is extra gasoline for delivery and exhaust from trucks contributes to air pollution.
